The question of bathing Bearded Dragons is often a controversial one – and rightly so.
This is because many use the action of bathing for the wrong reasons. This reason is mostly one where the keeper is trying to get their bearded dragon to poop. This ‘can’ have adverse effects (all explained in the article).
This Q&A based article was written by myself for Exotic Direct, and with an exotic Vets point of view added via Dr Sophie Bell.
The research regarding the negative effects and ‘no hydration unless water is taken in orally‘ is one from my multiple published peer reviewed article on ‘Water and Bearded Dragons’ around 5 or 6 years ago (links of which can be found in the files & Articles area). Which incidentally have also been debunked multiple times since, notably via the always educational and good friend to my Bearded Dragon Facebook group, ‘The Beardie Vet‘ on YouTube.
I do hope you all enjoy the read – and as always, feel free to share where you feel a little knowledge on the facts are needed.
